Loaves and Fishes Community Services has paired up with Snap Kitchen, a new health conscious grocery and take-away store located right here in Naperville.
Focused on fresh, ready to eat meals, Snap Kitchen is working to alleviate food waste while helping the hungry.
“When most of our food is available four to five days out, and when it’s two days before the consume by date we donate it to Loaves and Fishes, which gives it plenty of time to give it to someone in need,” said Emily Erickson, Registered Dietitian with Snap Kitchen.
The new partnership is not only a win for the organizations, but also adds resources for those they work to help everyday.
“It’s good for the community, it’s really great to see businesses in our area that contribute, both product and there are work groups that come in and help, there’s a lot of community participation in what we do here,” said Cary Gilkey, Vice President of Operations of Loaves and Fishes Community Services.
Snap Kitchen is currently the 18th store to partner with the not-for- profit to help end hunger.
