Members of the Naperville Fire Department and several neighboring departments, participated in live fire exercises to prep for future emergencies.
“We hope we never have to be in anyone’s home dealing with a structure fire, but in the event that we are, we’re doing it with a lot of good training and we’re doing it as efficient and effective as we possibly can,” explained Tom Morna, Bureau Chief of Training for the Naperville Fire Department.
First responders put out multiple real fires and conducted searches for potential victims as part of the simulation in the Department’s burn tower on Brookdale Road.
Firefighters had to properly attach the hose and hydrant to their truck before tackling the structure fire.
They also practiced forcing open locked doors, checking behind drywall for hidden fires and ventilating smoke filled areas.
