A lawsuit has been filed against the city of Naperville and three of its officers.
Frances Reitz, the town collector in Cicero, is claiming excessive force was used when Naperville police arrested her last July. At that time, she was in town at the home of her fiancé’ while police were on the scene investigating a report that his brother was potentially suicidal.
While there, Reitz claims she was violently thrown to the ground by an officer and held down. She was arrested for battery and obstruction, but was later found not guilty.
She’s now claiming damages on a number of levels including physical, emotional and financial, though no dollar amount has been specified in her eight-count lawsuit.
Reitz has requested a jury trial for the case, the date for which has yet to be set.
