The Illinois Business Immigration Coalition recently held a panel discussion here in Naperville.
Titled ‘After The Election: Next Steps for Immigration Reform,’ the panel was moderated by the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO Nicki Anderson.
Jeff Lungren from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Karina Garcia from the Aurora Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Liz Dong with Bibles, Badges and Business all served as panelists, discussing potential steps toward and results of immigration reform.
“I think if you look at what type of values and results you’d want out of an immigration system you’d certainly want the respect for law, you’d want to promote family stabilization, you’d want to promote economic growth and job creation. And I think we’re falling badly short on all those things, in fact I think we’re actually doing the opposite,” said Lungren.
Attendees, many of whom were business owners, could ask questions and get feedback from the panelists.
Experts also urged the business leaders in attendance to be vocal about the need for immigration reform with their local politicians.
