Clinical care, health behaviors and physical environment were just some of the factors used to determine which county is the healthiest in our state, and DuPage came out on top.
“We’re very proud of that, we put a lot of emphasis and effort into that, both on my committee and on the board of health, it’s a recognition that the county has worked with the private sector as well as the public facilities to make sure the people of this county are properly served in their healthcare needs,” said Bob Larsen, DuPage County Board member and Chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee.
The survey of Illinois’ 102 counties was conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
Last year DuPage came in third, but positive trends like more mammography screening and better diabetic monitoring helped boost them into first.
Will County came in at number 14.
