A local museum has been shut down and will remain closed for the next few weeks.
The DuPage Children’s Museum is currently closed after a water pipe burst, causing extensive damage to all three floors, resulting in a massive cleanup and repair mission.
“We had originally looked at February 8 as being in a good position to open up again, but based on our discovery to date, we are looking at more than several weeks,” said Dee Dee McDevitt, Director of Marketing and Sales for the DuPage Children’s Museum. “We want to make sure we do this right, that the museum is better than ever before.”
Though the museum has a professional service working on the cleanup, they’ve found themselves with many extra sets of hands to help.
“The staff has just stepped up, they are all so passionate about the museum and emotionally tied to the museum. Many of them have specific job titles and descriptions, but they are definitely not staying in those positions, they are rolling up their sleeves and helping out, they’re cleaning, organizing and just stepping up like there’s no tomorrow,” said McDevitt.
In the meantime, there are numerous local businesses that are offering deals to museum members. For a list, go to dupagechildrensmuseum.org.
