Evan Lysacek continued to wow fans months after the Olympics finished during the tenth season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
“I knew you would be nice on ice but I wasn’t sure if you were going to be good on wood but you nailed it!” judge Len Goodman told Evan and his partner Anna Trubanskaya when the couple nabbed a perfect score earlier in the season.
Local Lysacek fans gathered at Raffi’s On Fifth to see the results of the finale.
“I stayed up until 7am voting online for Evan Lysacek,” said Naperville resident and devoted “Dancing with the Stars” fanatic Cassandra Sakellariou. “I voted for 12 hours straight and I hope he wins! He deserves it!”
Sakellariou even went to Hollywood to see Evan Lysacek perform. Earlier this season, she won tickets at an auction see the show live.
“I sat in the front row – oh my god! – at “Dancing with the Stars, my absolute dream,” she said. “I couldn’t believe I was there.”
Sakellariou and other local fans, including Mayor Pradel anxiously watched as it came down to the wire.
Devastation filled the room after the results came in and host Tom Bergeron announced that Nicole Scherzinger was the winner.
“I can’t even tell you the disappointment I feel right now,” said Sakellariou.
“After being up for 12 hrs straight voting for Evan and for something like this to happen? It’s terrible!”
But Lysacek supporters couldn’t have been prouder.
“I was ready to jump up and holler and scream and I was until the end results came up,” said Mayor George Pradel. “But it’s great and they still are my heroes.”
