At a recent College of DuPage Board of Trustees meeting, the group voted 4-2 to start the process to fire the school leader, Robert Breuder, after receiving the results of an internal investigation, the details of which have yet to be revealed publicly.
Breuder has been on paid administrative leave since April. He was previously awarded a $763,000 severance package for retiring early in March 2016 – that could be in jeopardy depending on how termination proceedings advance.
Also passed in the meeting was the decision to request the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office to determine if Breuder’s contract is even valid, after a recent ruling by the Illinois Attorney General said an extension granted in 2011 was voted on without properly informing the public.
