The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce and Calamos Investments co-hosted the 2015 Regional Economic Forecast at Hotel Arista to predict where the economy is headed based on current trends.
Nationally recognized expert on economics, Terry Savage, moderated the panel discussion with panelists John P. Calamos, Sr., an investment officer, Blu Putnam, a Chief Economist, and Caroline Harris from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The group discussed the slow growth cycle the economy is currently seeing, which they expect to continue. They also compared the U.S. to other countries in terms of tax reform, growth and opportunities and current interest rates.
“Having a really low interest rate here, is not helping small businesses, it’s really tough for small business to go out there and get money to expand their business, so I’d like to see rates go up and see rates be normalized here,” said John P. Calamos, Sr.
At the end of the presentation, attendees were also invited to ask their own questions.
The panel also predicted that millennials will have an advantage in their future by having better knowledge in technology.
