For college basketball fans around the country, mid-March is a time where basketball games are on television around the clock. The 68 team tournament, known as March Madness, is a cultural phenomenon where brackets are composed and school spirit is at it’s strongest.
NCTV asked college basketball fans in downtown Naperville who their favorites for the tournament were. “I picked Florida State for the overall tournament because I think they are on a roll,” said Lesslie Thonn, a Naperville resident.
Wheaton resident and Benet Academy student Michael Kipp had a different opinion. “I picked Duke actually. I have Duke and UNC in a rematch for the championship,” as he said with confidence.
Some fans, however, didn’t have a method for choosing their favorite to win it all. “I picked Kentucky. No real rhyme or reason,” said Naperville resident Bob Cissel.
When asked about any possible upsets, Naperville resident Nichelle Kennedy said, “I have no idea.”
Whether picked with precision or just randomly, fans will follow their predictions all the way to the NCAA Men’s National Championship.
