As North Central College’s Sesquicentennial celebration draws near, the college premiered the second installment of a five-part documentary series entitled A Promising Start. North Central College commissioned Naperville Community Television to produce the documentary series.
“It’s always a very interesting experience to watch how history jumps off the page in these documentaries,” said Ann Keating, Professor of History at North Central College.
The second installment, The Growth of a College, recently screened in the Madden Theatre of the Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center. The Growth of a College examines the school’s continued expansion from 1916-1946. One alumnus from the time period read about the screening in the newspaper, and knew she had to attend.
“It was very heartwarming and I enjoyed it,” said RoseMary Rechenmacher Persiani, North Central Class of 1948. “I was reliving it!”
Part two highlights the college’s fifth president Edward E. Rall. He oversaw the expansion and changes of the college through World War I, the roaring 20s, the Great Depression, and World War II.
Part three of the documentary will debut on November 7, 2011.
