The turkey’s been cooked, the stuffing eaten, and now you’re on to leftovers. There’s plenty you can make with your Thanksgiving leftovers, and one of the easiest is a turkey sandwich. We went to the City Meat Market to learn what the pros think makes the perfect sandwich.
Brad Hudetz is the General Manager and chef at City Meat Market. When asked what ingredients make the perfect turkey sandwich, he grabbed white meat turkey, a croissant, brie cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise, and some cranberry sauce. He started by putting the turkey in a pan and placing the brie cheese right on top.
“Probably a 400 degree oven for maybe two to three minutes,” Hudetz advised.
Then he started prepping the croissant, but he did mention any type of bread would do.
“What we’re going to do is hit it with some mayonnaise on both sides, and then some of the cranberry sauce,” he said.
After that it’s time to take the turkey and cheese out of the oven and place it on the sandwich and add the lettuce.
“Just like that you have a delicious turkey sandwich using the leftovers from Thanksgiving,” said Hudetz.
The sandwich takes about five minutes to make and then it’s time to enjoy.
Hudetz says another simple sandwich combination is to take the gravy from Thanksgiving, put it on the turkey, and eat it on one of the leftover dinner rolls.
