The youth unemployment rate in the United States is at an all time low, but one group is hoping to give local teens an edge on the competition.
The not-for-profit organization, KidsMatter, recently held their seventh annual Student Job Fair at North Central College to prepare young people for employment.
More than 40 local businesses came out to connect with high school and college students, offering them a chance to fill out applications, build resumes, and engage in mock interviews.
“We’re really excited that we can help them find the type of job that will fit their individual schedules, their interests, and will really help propel them into the workforce,” said IdaLynn Wenhold, Executive Director for KidsMatter.
Organizers say the event uncovered more than 1,800 different job opportunities.
