A District 203 auto-shop instructor earned “Teacher Innovator of the Year.”
Administrators with OfficeMax presented Mark Williams of Naperville North High School with the award at their annual end of the school-year reception.
Every month the Naperville-based company gives a teacher who uses technology and ingenuity in the classroom to inspire students an award, office supplies and a $400 gift card. Williams was October’s winner. Then they select the most innovative teacher for the entire year.
“I’m really excited,” said Williams. “Like I said back in October, it’s completely humbling.”
Williams teaches students the importance of vehicle maintenance, like tire rotation and oil change.
But OfficeMax staff say the most unique thing he’s done is help students assemble an electric car.
Along with the teacher innovator of the year award, Williams also received a $1,000 gift card to OfficeMax and an all-expense-paid trip for two to a teacher enrichment conference of their choice anywhere in the U.S.
