During the December 3 special session of the Illinois General Assembly, Office Depot INC., the new company created by the merger of Naperville based OfficeMax and Office Depot, received partial approval for a tax incentive to stay in Illinois.
On December third, the Illinois Senate passed HB 3271, which included an amendment to offer the company tax incentives, but the House adjourned after the pension vote, leaving the bill’s future uncertain until they are back in session next year.
If approved and accepted the incentives would go into effect in July of 2014.
Florida, where Office Depot is currently located, is also working on tax incentives for Office Depot INC.
