The Chibad Jewish Center of Naperville recently hosted a survivor of the Holocaust.
Marthe Cohn’s life sounds like the plot of a Hollywood movie. Just 19 when the Nazis invaded France, Cohn studied to become a nurse during World War II. She then decided to use her talents to infiltrate enemy lines, posing as a German nurse and spying on the enemy supplying vital information to the French.
Cohn shared her story with members of the Chibad Jewish Center of Naperville and signed copies of her memoir.
“She just has such a fascinating story and is now 96 – it was an opportunity we didn’t want to miss,” said Rabbi Mendy Goldstein.
Years after the war Cohn was honored with the highest medal of honor in Europe.
Cohn says she never felt she deserved the honors she received because she was such an unlikely spy.
