The Chicago Sun-Times is laying off its entire photography staff, including those at its suburban paper, The Naperville Sun.
Company-wide roughly 20-full time employees are losing their jobs as a result, plus as many as ten part-timers.
The Sun-Times will still hire freelance photographers when necessary, but will rely heavily on their reporters to take photos and videos.
The company released this statement regarding the layoffs.
It read, “the Chicago Sun-Times continues to evolve with our digitally savvy customers, and as a result, we have had to restructure the way we manage multimedia, including photography, across the network.”
The cuts follow the company’s closing of their suburban offices in December, whose services were consolidated to the downtown headquarters.
