As the weather heats up so does the box office.
The Summer movie season kicked off in a big way, make that a big green way when “Godzilla” smashed his way into theaters raking in over 90 million dollars its opening weekend.
“The first one was in 1964. Now we have the new version with Bryan Cranston and Godzilla is in 3D. So that’s going to be a big hit at the box office and probably one of the big movies this summer,” said Marketing Director at Classic Cinema’s Mark Mazrimas.
Also coming back for more action are the X-Men in “Days of Future Past.”
“Now this one they are combining both X-Men casts, so you have the mutant Jennifer Lawrence meeting up with the Hugh Jackman Wolverine so that should be a lot of fun, also in 3D,” said Mazrimas.
And Optimus Prime is ready to roll, in Transformers Age of Extinction.
“It’s the fourth time around except this time Shia LeBouf [is] out Mark Wahlberg [is] in, so we’ll see if he can breathe new life in the series,” said Mazrimas. “I know they also filmed some scenes in Chicago.”
Explosions, mutants and robots not your thing? Why not laugh it up with these comedies coming out.
That’s right, college crime doesn’t stand a chance when Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill return in 22 Jump Street.
“Now the boys are back and they’ve graduated high school and they are heading to college as drug enforcement agents. [It’s] probably going to be another big hit this summer,” said Mazrimas.
And Seth Macfarlane proves he’s a jack of all trades as he writes, directs, produces and stars in A Million Ways to Die in the West along side Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried and Neil Patrick Harris.
“It’s really going to be his version of the old west,”
Disney has a new take on a classic fairy tale, with the movie “Malificent” starring Angelina Jolie.
“As you remember this is the villain in Sleeping Beauty, but now Disney is going to give us her version of the story which will be very interesting,” said Mazrimas.
And from evil dragons, to tamer ones in Dreamworks How to Train Your Dragon 2.
“This should be a really good family flick”, said Mazrimas.
Starting June 11th Classic Cinemas Ogden 6 will kick off their summer movie series, where you can catch family flicks for a buck on Wednesday mornings!
