The summer months usually bring high gas prices because of the demand and the switch to a more expensive summer gas blend.
June’s average price in Illinois was $4.02 per gallon. The good news is that has dropped almost 20 cents to $3.84 the current state average.
But experts say don’t expect that number to go much lower.
“We expect that number to plateau, because refineries have switched to a new blend,” said AAA Spokesperson Charlene Slighting.
The slight drop is typical for this time of year as demand winds down.
