The holidays in general can be stressful for many residents and with unemployment still hovering around 9%, it’s not making things any easier. Joy Maguire-Dooley, a nationally recognized job expert, educator and therapist recently provided residents with a few suggestions for handling the stress of finding a job.
“It all starts with you,” said Dooley. “Then the expectations of other people come into your head. If you can just stay mindful of what you believe through all the chaos then it will be okay.”
Eleven residents attended the seminar where Dooley demonstrated the best techniques to avoid being overwhelmed and how to market yourself if you are between successes. She says writing things down that you want to accomplish can relieve stress because you are 76% more likely to do it. Dooley said she is available for one-on-one meetings at the Lisle Township and at the Lisle Library.
