The Naperville Police Department is reminding residents to lock it or lose it.
This is after a string of 30 vehicles were burglarized and five cars were stolen in Naperville on July 26th.
While a 15-year-old from Chicago has been charged with stealing one of those vehicles, Naperville Police believe there are still more suspects at large.
“There definitely appears to be more than one suspect in this case as there are five total cars that are stolen, one we recovered. Additionally we recovered a stolen vehicle out of Chicago that we suspect the suspects drove out to Naperville in,” said Commander Jason Arres with the Naperville Police Department.
Police say the majority of the vehicles that were burglarized were unlocked, and all that were stolen had the keys inside.
“Lock your cars, don’t store valuables in your cars, those types of things when you leave your cars unlocked and you leave valuables visible, it makes your vehicle more likely to be targeted for car burglaries,” said Commander Arres.
If you have any information about the crimes, contact the investigations division at 630-420-6666.
