Local hockey fans recently had the chance to meet a chance to meet a Chicago sports legend.
Blackhawks fans waited in line at Anderson’s Bookshop for the opportunity to see former star Stan Mikita.
The Center was one of the league’s best in the 1960s, and won the Stanley Cup with the ‘Hawks in 1961.
In a new book, entitled Forever a Blackhawk, Mikita outlines his 22-year career with the team.
Blackhawks team historian and longtime journalist, Bob Verdi, helped write the book.
“I like him (Mikita) because he is on the Chicago Blackhawks. That is my favorite team and he is my favorite player,” said eight-year-old Naperville resident Tyler Wipff.
Stan Mikita was inducted into the National Hockey League Hall of Fame in 1983.
