After a dreary Winter, warm weather is finally here, but with all that sunlight coming in, you may start to notice all the dust.
Though your standard dusting products can do the trick for most surfaces, faux greenery requires a special touch, just pop it in the sink, spray it with some foam bathroom cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes and rinse with water.
Somewhere you may not see the dust, your mattress. Quick tip to clean it, sprinkle baking soda over it and let it sit for an hour. After that, just vacuum it up to have a fresh mattress.
Once you make your way to the closet, check to see if unwanted clothes are good to donate. We stopped by Goodwill to see what they’re low on.
“Summer stuff actually. We already have the summer set but with people starting to go on Spring break vacations and stuff like that, we’re hoping they’ll clean out the closets and start bringing in some more tank-tops and shorts,” said Goodwill Retail Supervisor, Nichole Pakula.
You can find the dos and don’ts of donating at amazinggoodwill.com
And if you’re feeling up to clearing out the cabinets, Loaves and Fishes is always in need of food.
“Currently we’re in the need of boxed pastas and rices, we could definitely use pasta sauces like Ragu, Prego, things like that, cereals, instant oatmeals would be great. And a lot of our clients could really use personal care items such as shampoo, shaving cream, soaps, things like that would be very helpful,” said Loaves & Fishes Director of Food Operations, Cary Gilkey.
Loaves & Fishes has the ability to turn just a one-dollar donation into $10 worth of food.
Other locations for donations include Hesed House, DuPage Pads, and Feed the Need.
