More than 900 runners recently sprung ahead. 360 Youth Services, formerly NCO Youth and Family Services, held their 13th annual Spring Ahead Run.
The race started at Calamos Investments. Participants could do a 5k or 10k race. Kids ran a one-mile fun run and high-fived Chicago Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk at the finish line. Winners of each race, male and female, received a trophy.
The proceeds fund 360’s programs for youths, which include counseling, crisis intervention, and drug prevention.
“It supports a great cause,” said Eric Eckerman, 5K participant. “It supports youths for services they might not have access to otherwise.”
“One of the things that we always pledge, is that we will never refuse service to anyone because of an inability to pay. The money that we raise from the run helps us to do that so we can serve everyone in this community that needs our help,” said Ron Hume, Executive Director, 360 Youth Services.
The race raised more than $26,000.
