Geoff Colvin, Senior Editor-at-Large for Fortune Magazine, presented “Leading Ahead of What’s Next”, an in-depth look at how business leaders should respond to the rapid growth of technology.
“Technology is doing more and more stuff, incredibly well and the trend is speeding up, not slowing down. So this issue of how we poor humans are going to add value in the economy has become a huge topic,” said Colvin.
Colvin explained that although technology is displacing more jobs that it creates, people still provide value through their ability to innovate and connect with others.
“Traveling around, speaking to business people, I realized that there is so much creativity and imagination and ambition and energy out there, more than there’s ever been before,” added Colvin.
While these characteristics can be easily overlooked, Colvin believes they are the differentiator between high value and low value workers in every business.
Colvin encouraged business leaders to stay positive and focus on what’s important, what’s not and what’s next.
