The South Gate Center recently held their ninth annual fall festival with a bit of a twist. Festivities included an exhibition of the Bed Races, typically ran at Naperville’s Last Fling, but were canceled this year due to rain.
A smaller version of the usual 12-team race included three teams running two heats.
NCTV’s bed won the race while being pushed by a team representing Midwest Fit Club.
Event organizers were happy to see such a popular attraction travel to the south side of the city.
“Because Naperville is so huge, the business community feels somehow that they are not part of Naperville, but part of Plainfield,” said Bob Parida, the owner of Sparks Car Care and sponsor of the event. “The idea of bringing awareness of us in the community, that we are the business community of Naperville [is great].”
The festival also included live music and the Naperville Area Humane Society.
