Supervised open study is an opportunity for students to get ahead start on their homework while still at school, with the benefit of one-on-one tutoring from teachers.
The after school program is open to all students who want to refresh what they’ve learned, get a jump ahead on studying for tests and finals, or just have a quiet place to work, with access to technology that might not be available at home.
Since the start of the year, nearly 1,500 students have used SOS, and teachers have noticed.
“Statistics show that tutoring of any kind leads to higher grades so we’ll stick with that,” said Director of Student Services at North, Jeffery Farson.
SOS is offered three days a week, and is funded by a grant from the Naperville Educational Foundation.
