Naperville police officers are bringing holiday spirit to a few needy children. The Naperville Fraternal Order of Police held their third annual Shop with a Cop event at Target. They partnered with the city of Naperville’s Youth Social Services Unit to choose ten disadvantaged children to participate this year. Each kid pairs with a cop and goes on a $150 holiday shopping spree.
“We’re here to help you and that’s the reason why we got in this profession,” said Vince Clark, President of the Naperville Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 42. “It’s not all about chasing bad guys and stuff. It’s about helping people.”
In the spirit of giving, the police encourage kids to use the money to shop for their families as well as a gift for themselves.
“When I have the chance, it’s just fun to give,” said Rokas Stadalninkas, a Naperville resident.
“I just feel good giving back to my sister because I made her a promise and I actually got to fulfill that promise,” said Julisha Taylor, a Lisle resident.
The group spent more than $1000 on gifts to help make the holidays brighter for the children and their families.
