As the holiday shopping season quickly approaches, many retailers around the country are looking for extra employees to fill the demand.
Macy’s says they will hire nearly 83,000 seasonal workers, the most of any company nationally. Kohl’s plans to bring in 53,000 employees.
And with online shopping projected to increase for the 2013 holidays, Amazon is expected to add 70,000 jobs nationally, that’s 40% more jobs than the year before.
Target’s seasonal hiring numbers, however, are down 20-percent from last year….
Store manager at Anne Taylor Loft in downtown Naperville, Karrell Bello, said she will hire five new employees, increasing her staff by twenty percent to make sure the store is ready.
“Being a high volume store, increasing another five to 25 will be great,” said Bello. “It’s flu season and sometimes people get sick so I want to make sure my bases are covered for the holidays.”
One thing different for job seekers this year are applications, most companies are going green and moving the whole process online.
