Naperville’s small businesses got a chance to learn how to be more competitive.
The U.S. Small Business Administration, a federal agency dedicated to helping small businesses succeed, stopped by Naperville to teach small business owners about how they can successfully procure their services with the government.
“We have these seminars and workshops throughout the state in local communities so business owners don’t feel intimidated by the procurement process,” said Donald Pellico, Business Opportunity Specialist with the SBA. “We make it easy, we explain in easy to understand terms how to do business with the federal government, which is the biggest buyer of goods and services.”
It’s no question that Naperville has a thriving small business community, but they often miss out on big opportunities by not contracting their services with the government.
“Procurement, in federal governments and also local governments is a big opportunity for everybody in small business and it frustrates me very much that I don’t see small businesses taking advantage of that,” said Mayor Steve Chirico.
