When life gets tough it’s sometimes hard to take care of yourself, let alone your pets, but the Naperville Area Humane Society hopes their Safe Pets program will offer a little comfort to those facing tough challenges.
88% of animals who live with humans in a domestic violence situation are also abused.
The Naperville Area Humane Society offers those animals a safe place to live until their owners can get out of their harmful situation.
“It’s our goal to keep families together and if we can house them and help make it a little easier for people to get out of a harmful situation and know their pets are ok then we’re happy to do that,” said Angie Wood, Executive Director of the Naperville Area Humane Society.
The Exchange Club recently donated part of the proceeds from Ribfest to support the Safe Pet program.
If you or someone you know needs a safe environment for their pet while leaving an abusive situation you can call The Humane Society at 630-420-8989.
