For the third year in a row, Longwood Elementary hosted its Run With the Lions 5K at St. James Farm aimed at supporting school programs.
“All funds from this event go to pay, actually what we’re working toward this year is providing a maker space for the lMC where it’s all stemmed based were going to have some new computers and interactive spaces for the kids to code and do this great technology and engineering based stuff,” said PTA President of Longwood Elementary, Gendy Jaramillo.
There were just over 450 runners who helped to raise about $10,000 for this year’s run, which was another way to encourage an active lifestyle.
“Another great thing about the race is that it promotes healthy habits you know we are all about eating healthy staying physically fit, our P.E. program follows that as well so it’s a great way to have fun together while doing something healthy,” said Principal of Longwood Elementary, Tracey Ratner.
In previous years, their fundraising efforts funded the schools music programs, a climbing wall in their gym and new equipment.
