Commuters are dealing with a new headache as construction begins along Route 59.
The $84.8 million project will affect a three-mile stretch of Route 59 from Ferry Road to just south of New York Street.
The construction will include converting the I-88 interchange into a diverging diamond configuration and adding a third lane in each direction along Route 59.
Officials say the project will take two years to complete.
The city of Naperville is advising motorists to choose an alternate route because significant traffic delays are expected.
