The state is giving more money to fund the upcoming Route 59 construction.
Last month the governor’s office approved $50.2 million for a project that would widen the major thoroughfare to an extra third lane in each direction from Aurora Avenue to Ferry Road.
Now the state’s adding an extra $34.6 million in funding, bringing the total to $84.8 million.
Crews will also build additional sidewalks, more traffic signals at key intersections, noise walls, and a reconfiguration of the I-88 interchange as part of the project.
Construction is set to begin August 19th.
