Thousands of people came to Cantigy Park today to attend an all day concert for a cause.
At the 10th annual Rockin’ for the Troops event people could enjoy music, food, and each other.
It’s the biggest fundraiser for Operation Support Our Troops-America to help send care packages to deployed service men and women and it is ran by volunteers, all who have a tied to the military.
“I’m glad because everybody that is there is somebody’s child,” said Joanne Staral, who lost a child who served and a volunteer with Operation Support Our Troops America. “And it’s good. It’s like Christmas when you get a present, right.”
The concert was also humbling for those who serve to see the support of the community.
“It’s beautiful,” said Army Veteran Sean Barnard. “I don’t know how else to say it, it’s beautiful”
Just before the headlining act was set to take the stage, storm clouds rolled in, forcing concert-goers to pack up and head to their cars.
The storm did cause some to leave, but the ones that waited out the storm still got to see Ronnie Dunn.
Dunn, formerly of the country duo, Brooks and Dunn, Ronnie performed hits like “Only in America.”
In the event’s 10-year history, they have raised nearly $2.5 million and that all goes back to support the troops.
