Plans to extend Naperville’s crown jewel continue to move forward.
At their latest meeting, the Riverwalk Commission discussed residents’ comments and concerns about the proposed addition to the existing Riverwalk, which if approved will include, a walkway under the existing Hillside Road bridge, additional parking, and a gateway and bridge over Martin Avenue at Washington Street.
The Ad Hoc sub-committee will meet on March 26, to review residents’ comments from the January open house and to work out main details of the proposal.
“The bicycle issue, if we allow them if we don’t if we accommodate them over part of it, ” said Riverwalk Commissioner Bill Novak. “That will really be the toughest thing we will be looking at; just by taking a quick look at the comments so far that issue seemed to be very, very divided.”
On April 10, the commission will vote on whether or not to go forward with the extension. If approved, it will then go to the park district board and then city council for final approval.
