At their latest meeting, the Naperville Park District voted yes to an extension to the Riverwalk from Hillside Street to Martin Avenue.
The current south boundary of the Riverwalk is the Hillside Bridge.
This plan would push the end farther along Washington Street to Martin Avenue, connecting it to Knoch Park and Edward hospital.
The board voted unanimously to endorse the addition.
“The Riverwalk is such a crown jewel in the center of Naperville that gets so much use,” said Board Vice President Mike Reilly. “So when the opportunity presented itself to extend it to the south we thought it was a wonderful idea.”
The extension has been in the works for more than two years.
The plans will now go in front of city council for a final stamp of approval at a future meeting.
