Catholic churches worldwide recently came together to say goodbye to Pope Benedict XVI.
On February 28th, the church bells of Ss. Peter and Paul rang out at the moment of the pope’s official retirement, 1:00 p.m. CT or 8:00 p.m. at the Vatican.
The ringing of the bells was to honor the pope for his service to the church, and signify the end of his papacy.
The College of Cardinals will meet in conclave at the Sistine Chapel to select the next leader of the Catholic Church.
