A lifelong Naperville resident recently celebrated a milestone.
Edward Wolak turned 100 years old surrounded by family from Illinois to Australia.
The room was filled with love as a slide show of memories from the last century played for all to enjoy.
“It was a real treasure. A good souvenir to remember for this happy occasion,” said Edward Wolak.
Wolak was surprised with a card from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle. His dear friend of many years Mayor George Pradel also gave him a certificate that proclaims July 11, 2012 as Edward Wolak day in the City of Naperville.
After the party Wolak shared one of his favorite baseball games.
“The Yankees were playing the White Sox and in that game I saw Babe Ruth, Lou Garret and two other men,” said Wolak. Babe Ruth hit two homeruns, Lou Gehrig hit two homeruns and two other Yankees hit home runs and yet the Sox won the ball game.”
When asked what is the key to a happy life, Edward responded with a simple answer, “Live each day to the fullest and do the best you can.”
