Council unanimously allocated $110,000 for flood-related engineering, taking a look at the 95th Street Gabion Dam, which was damaged in the April flood, along with other flood-prone areas.
They hope this will alleviate flooding in homes, businesses and city streets.
The city had 157 confirmed sewer backups after the flood, including many homes in the Cress Creek subdivision.
“Sewer backups are illegal because they’re a major health hazard,” said Dale Bryson, Naperville Resident. “Cleaning them up is terrible. You’re exposed to bacteria, viruses and other things.”
City staff will also expand the sanitary sewer backflow prevention and sanitary sewer lining programs.
