Not-for-profits that serve those in need will be getting a bit more financial relief from the city.
The council agreed to allocate an additional $100,000 from the city’s general fund to the pre-existing $300,000 for the Social Services Grants program.
The city created the program to provide financial assistance to municipal and not-for-profit social service agencies, like loaves and fishes, DuPage PADS, KidsMatter, and 360 Youth Services.
The previously approved $300,000 has already been divided up among 19 organizations. Groups will have to re-apply for their share of the additional $100,000, which will be available beginning with fiscal year 2014.
