It was a special meeting at Meson Sabika for the Rotary Club of Naperville, as they wrapped their veterans in quilts of valor.
“When we learned of the Quilts of Valor program, we thought it was a wonderful opportunity to focus on thanking our members who are veterans,” said Alma Jones, Community Service Director of the Rotary Club of Naperville.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a non-profit organization that makes and donates quilts to veteran service members.
The quilts are meant to both honor and comfort their recipients.
“It’s a hug, it’s a lasting hug. The ladies have been busy piecing the tops, then it goes to the person who quilts it together, and many hands are on this quilt,” said Rita Pennington, Illinois State Coordinator of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. “It’s a thank you hug.”
In total, 13 rotarians were honored with a quilt.
