The first annual “Community Begins at Home” breakfast showcased how Project HELP has been making an impact on families within the community.
State of Illinois First Lady Dr. Diana Rauner acted as keynote speaker, emphasizing the importance of home visitation in Illinois to help empower parents and nurture children’s growth.
“I think as a society, if we cannot provide an opportunity for every person to develop his or her own potential, we are weaker as a society, we are poorer as a society, we’re less just,” said Rauner, who is also President of the Ounce of Prevention Fund, a public-private partnership that helps train home visitors in Illinois.
Since 1992, Project HELP has been working to prevent child abuse and neglect by providing parents with tools, tips and support to help children reach their full potential.
