A new workout in the area is sure to get you feeling in the rhythm.
Similar to Zumba or Werq pound is all about getting your groove on while working a sweat.
“It’s a social event and more than just a workout and it’s different, it’s fun, it’s high energy it incorporates dance too and a lot of different moves. Anyone can do it! You can go from beginner to advanced there is a level for everyone to do and I think that’s what draws in a lot of people,” said Tom Eckhart, Owner of Fit to be You.
However in contrast to their cardio counterpart, pound focuses more on sculpting.
“So we do a lot of squats a lot of lunges, we do a few ab tracks as well as a track for the glutes and the hips so you’re getting those cardio intervals while sculpting your body,” said Pound Instructor, Tisha McClinic.
Pound also uses an accessory that you don’t usually see in the gym, drumsticks.
“The sticks are very lightly weighted, and do not glow in the dark as we are often asked. But you’re not getting as much of an arm workout as you might think you’ll get you’re really just using them to time to the music and really just rock out – it’s meant to be fun while you’re working that lower body with the squats, lunges and ad work,” said McClinic.
And while doing good for their body, this night the pounders at fit to be you also got a chance to do good for their community.
“We’re partnering with the Naperville Humane Society, so tonight all proceeds from tonight’s class will go to them and the needs they have for the animals here locally,” said Eckhart.
Fit To Be You hopes to provide more donations for other organizations through their classes.
