Bethany Lutheran Church’s recent petition for expansion to the Planning and Zoning Commission brought to light a much larger and very wet problem.
During public comment for the petition neighbors voiced their concerns about flooding if the addition of the church covered up more grass.
Throughout the testimony it became apparent the flooding is a much larger issue that had nothing to do with the church’s petition.
The commissioners gave a positive recommendation to the church with the condition that they have an engineer provide city council with a written statement that proves this development will not make flooding worse.
The petition will now go to city council for a vote. Neighbors will still have a chance to voice their opinions during public comment.
Plan Commissioners are hoping city council will be made aware of the flooding issues and take care of it.
