Someone you love asking for a pet this holiday? The Naperville Area Humane Society says it’s not the greatest idea. Volunteers and staff with the not-for-profit say the holiday season is often too stressful for both families and a new pet.
Angie Wood, Executive Director says “For those folks that are doing lots of traveling or intend on having lots of family over the holiday season, bringing in a new pet right now, probably not the wisest choice.”
Wood says instead you can provide a certificate saying this is good for a free adoption at the Humane Society and then get supplies needed for the pet. The animal shelter has more than 18 dogs and 40 cats of all breeds and ages ready for adoption after the holidays.
