Who says a penny can’t go a long way.
The Naperville Park District’s preschool program held its 3rd annual “Pennies for Pies” drive.
Over the course of 3 weeks children brought spare change to class to help Naperville’s Loaves and Fishes.
The money donations help the local food pantry purchase pumpkin pies for families in need of a Thanksgiving meal.
Last year, Naperville Loaves and Fishes donated 100 pies. This year they hope to donate at least that, if not more with the help from young children in the community.
“They love being able to help, and they love making people happy. Said Jody Bender, Community Relations Director of Loaves and Fishes. “It’s natural, preschools pies and loaves and fishes is a great mix.”
At least 200 families will be using the “Thanksgiving meal in a bag” program proved by Loaves and Fishes this year to celebrate the holiday.
