At the latest Naperville Park District Board meeting, the group approved a nearly $7.9 million project.
Plans are in place to demolish and rebuild the outdated maintenance facility building and Barn Recreation Center located near West Street and Martin Avenue at Knoch Park.
Both facilities date back to the ‘60’s and were originally designed as a community youth center before the Park District came about. But after a study projected that maintenance of the building would cost roughly $1 million a year, the board voted to move forward with new plans.
The project is expected to begin this year and finish before June 2017. In the meantime, all events will be transferred to the new activity center being built at Fort Hill Drive.
