The Naperville Park District encourages the public to get involved with a policy update.
They recently held an open house at the Naperville Municipal Center to update the 1992 Americans with Disabilities Transition plan.
The plan requires the Park District to make parks and sports fields easily accessible for those who use a wheelchair or crutches.
Updating the plan is necessary in order to comply with the 2010 Americans With Disabilities Act accessibility guidelines and the Illinois accessibility codes, by prioritizing the removal of objects that might be seen as obstacles to persons with disabilities.
The district held the open house to get personal feedback from the community.
“We feel that its important to get the community involved in what we have planned and get them involved in the process,” said Park District Director of Planning, Eric Shutes.
The fully revised ADA Transition Plan is available to the public at the Park District’s Planning Office.
