The feds are calling a Naperville trucking company, an “imminent danger” and have ordered all their vehicles off the road.
Regulators started investigating DND International after one of their drivers, Renato Velasquez, was charged with violating transport rules and causing a major accident back in January that resulted in the death of a toll way worker and serious injuries to a state trooper.
They found that Velasquez and the other six drivers with DND had falsified their logbooks. To have the indefinite ban lifted, the company must submit an eight-part plan to the government detailing how it will comply with specific regulations.
The injured state trooper, Douglas Balder, remains hospitalized and his family, as well as that of the killed toll way worker, Vincent Petrella, have both filed separate lawsuits against the company and Velasquez is out on bond and is awaiting trial.
